Frequently asked Questions

What if I'm self conscious?

Being asked to undress can be intimidating and can sometimes trigger all sorts of emotional reactions, especially if it’s your first time receiving a massage.

The aesthetics of your body is not our concern. As therapists our attention is focused entirely on areas of the body that are causing you stress and discomfort. We treat bodies of all shapes and sizes on a daily basis. Pro-Wellness is a non-judgemental space and we’re here to help you flourish.

Removing any item of clothing is ALWAYS optional, you are in control of how your therapist approaches your treatment. It is your choice. Being comfortable is key to achieving the best results from any form of treatment, ultimately, if you’re feeling stressed we won’t make much progress.

However, clothes can function as a barrier and make it difficult to engage with problem areas. To get the most out of your treatment, clothing should be removed to allow access to your skin. Draping techniques are used to ensure parts of your body that aren’t being worked on, are covered.

If you have any anxiety about this process, please do get in touch. Treatment can be adjusted to suit your needs.

What do I wear?

Wear clothing that you feel comfortable in. If you’re attending a 1:1 training session it’s best to wear gym wear and appropriate footwear - but ultimately, comfort is key.

Do I need to bring anything?

You don’t need to bring anything to your appointment unless requested.

Some people like to bring notes or pain diaries to help them communicate their issues prior to their treatment. Sometimes, the initial appointment can trigger anxiety and we can forget important details and remember them the day after! You’re welcome to share as much or as little as you like.

Should I make conversation?

This is entirely down to personal choice.

Some people remain silent throughout the duration of their treatment, others prefer to relax by talking.

However, it is imperative that you communicate with your therapist during treatment. Massage therapists are naturally intuitive, but we’re not mind readers. If something hurts, feels uncomfortable or you want to stop your treatment, you must say!

How long before I notice an improvement?

Some people feel immediate relief straight after their treatment, whilst others experience this after a couple of weeks. Everyone is different: no treatment is ever the same.

It’s important to keep track of how you feel after each session, this way we can adapt techniques and approaches to your changing state.
